THE ORIGINS
With its Mediterranean climate characterized by hot summers and cool winters, as well as its clay-limestone soil, the Meknes region has always offered ideal conditions for viticulture.
Although its expansion was significant under Roman rule, the history of Moroccan viticulture dates back to Phoenician times and continued intensively under the French protectorate in the 20th century.
In ancient times, the region of Volubilis, corresponding to present-day Meknes, was home to the majority of the Kingdom's vineyards.
